Public warned about buying meat in Riversdale, St. Catherine

The Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit is advising members of the public to be cautious when purchasing meat in Riversdale, St. Catherine, following the slaughter of two pregnant cows on a farm in the community.
According to the unit, pregnant animals must not be slaughtered unless inspected by a registered veterinary surgeon, who certifies that the meat is fit for consumption
Head of the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit, Deputy Superintendent Kevin Francis, says there are also instances where the carcasses are transported in unsanitry conditions and this poses health risks.
Francis has urged members of the public with information on the slaighter of the cows in Riversdal to contact investigators as soon as possible.
