I believe that the debate is really about how humanity has interpreted the will of God.
Amongst other things Hitchens who was polled as winning by 68% of those queried said that he did not think that scaring children with talk of Hell and the inferiority of women were good for humanity.
He called the unquestioned worship of God and the unquestioned obedience to his will as written in the Bible by MEN as a sort of "Celestial North Korea" which is as good a description of the holy dictatorships that are most religions as I have heard.
