New Canadians Job Fair; Canadian Citizens & Landed Immigrants
WHEN: Wednesday, 1st June 2005, 10.00am-8.00pm
WHERE: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building Room 206, 255 Front Street West, Down Town Toronto
DETAILS: free, on-site registration (please allow 30 minutes for registration)
WHO: new or established immigrants with/without
Canadian experience or education who are legally able to work in Canada. Must provide proof-for example -citizenship card or immigration documents.
WHAT: This is an inaugural job fair and career expo for immigrants to Canada. This event is designed to allow immigrants improved access to employment and educational opportunities. It will also provide a forum for information about programs and services specifically designed to assist new immigrants and immigrants who have been in the country for several years.
More than 15 organizations including employers,
educational institutions and governmental departments will participate including Hewlett-Packard, Bell, and the National Post. Please bring resumes.
Highlights include:
RECRUITMENT: Representatives from private and public sector employers will be seeking qualified workers who have some work or educational experience in Canada.
Job seekers will be immigrants who have arrived in
Canada within the last 10 years who may be unemployed
or underemployed and looking for a job change. They
are fluent in either English or French and their
educational qualifications have been assessed for
Canadian equivalency.
EDUCATION INFORMATION: Educational institutions will
offer information about programs designed to update
credentials and on Co-op programs that have been
designed to help immigrants obtain Canadian
experience.
PROGRAMS & SERVICES INFORMATION: Information
specifically targeted to new Canadians including
immigrant programs, accreditation services as well as
professional & networking associations.
