This is very true. This is one (of many) reasons that I prefer places like TB, and Port Maria.

The 1st time I went to Jamaica (Negril), I was with 4 other women. 4 of us were Ja virgins. 2 of us loved Jamaica from jump. 2 vowed never to return. (The 5th / who had been once before (Mobay) was a WILD !!!

I would think the senseless slayings in Kingston would raise more eyebrows than a few tourist running around naked and consenting adults having sex with each other....killing is obscene. Nudity and sex is not.

neutral, your point is well understood, but shouldn't there be a happy medium? we are not saying that people should not be allowed to display their cultural uniqueness. but when it is marketed and advertised to the point where the term "sex tourism" even exists, there's a problem. Yes me too, but some family are from there (treasure beach) so thats where I always stay. I can only handle Negril et al for a few days at a time and then I want to leave!

yeh but its the ramifications of the consenting sex thats the problem, not the actual sex itself. At least not for me.

And as people have discussed in here, tourists are getting put off from coming to JA because of this.

firemandave..the loosening of the moral fabric in Jamaica,the depraved public behaviour and gross immorality have a negative effect on the Jamaican society, and leads to many social ills that a poor country can ill afford.

If public displays, and simulated sex acts are soooo good..can I conclude that you would encourage your daughter, and agree for your wife to pursue careers as strippers and as exotic dancers??

Rather than just talk about the ills and the problems, I will propose possible solutions as far as the tourist trade goes, I will start another topic to address this called "Faith-based tourism."

a problem for whom?,I am sorry sunshinechic`,but I think that there are far more pressing problems that need to be addressed in jamaica than consenting adults having sex.
"sex tourism",...sounds like fun to me,life is very short,if sex is what makes one happy and it harms no one in the process then bang away I say.

what are the "ramifications"?

and it would seem that tourists are not put off from visiting jamaica because of these activities,indeed it would appear that there is a demand for bookings to jamaica because of this.
if there werent then we all would not be having this discussion.
besides,it is hard to see how anyone would be put off from visiting jamaica because of the sexual shenanigans that happens in a select group of hotels.

I stay with my grandparents most summers for about 6 weeks [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
This year I'm hoping to go for a couple of months, I like the whole of st.bess, Treasure beach, southfield etc.

The rest of my family are in Kingston, I like it there too (loads of shops, restaurants etc), but most country people hate kingston lol

I've never stayed in port maria though, but I hear the north coast is BEAUTIFUL

I have been to the Bahamas(Nassau&Freeport), St. Thomas, St. Martin and Cancun(i shouldn't even include this place [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] ) The same thing happens on other islands, it is just a little more subtle. I think it is because Jamaicans are just more passionate people(speech, mannerisms, etc.) It also depends on who YOU are, too. If that is what you want and what you came for and you are willing to do anything, then you know what you have to do($$$). If you go and just happen to meet a really nice person, well, that is a different story. but this is just my opinion [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Port Maria is lovely, too. (watch for Libby's photos). I have only driven through Kingston once.
TB is my "home" in Jamaica. I hope to buy a small piece of land there. But, I like to get around Jamaica & see different places. I'd like to see more of Portland (only driven through). I'd also like to see the Blue Mountains some day.
