The Director of Public Prosecutions says an order by the Supreme Court in the controversial Trafigura Affair is now in the hands of attorneys for the People's National Party (PNP). The Supreme Court has reportedly ruled that officials of the party including Party Leader Portia Simpson Miller, should co-operate with the Dutch authorities, in their investigation of Trafigura's donation to the PNP's election campaign.However, in an interview with RJR News on Thursday, the DPP declined to disclose the nature of the order.She again distanced her office from allegations that it leaked information on the ruling to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).At the JLP's 67th Annual Conference on Sunday, Deputy Leader Audley Shaw told party supporters at the National Arena that Trafigura Beheer had returned the money to the PNP and that the Dutch authorities are pursuing the matter.In a statement Tuesday night, the PNP said it found it highly unusual that a JLP Deputy Leader was able to make an announcement at the Party's conference in relation to an investigation. Court matters are of public record - Llewellyn The Opposition PNP also pointed fingers in the direction of the DPP's office.However, according to Ms Llewellyn, once the matter is before the court, it is a matter of public record."In respect of how anybody gets that information, which is a matter of public record, I am not going to speculate. I can say that last week I was in Bermuda and I returned to the island late Sunday evening. Peter Bunting, (PNP General Secretary) perhaps is making his comments from an uninformed position, so I want to reassure the public that where mutual assistance matters are concerned, part of the scheme mandates that we have to be confidential," Ms. Llewellyn stated.The PNP had announced that it had returned the donation to Trafigura Beheer.
