The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) will on Monday unveil the full slate of candidates for this weekend's highly anticipated internal elections.General Secretary, Karl Samuda, will vet the nominations which came in ahead of Sunday's deadline.A list of the candidates who will be vying for senior positions in the governing Party will be presented by Monday afternoon."Today I will look at the nomination papers and determine whether all have been completed in conformity to our regulations,""Thereafter I will announce all the persons who have been nominated for the various posts that will be determined on December 5 where we will have the central executive to appoint the remaining officers who will comprise the team that will lead the party for next year," he said.Up to late Sunday night it was unclear how many persons had been nominated.The JLP's young professional affiliate, Generation 2000 (G2K) has already thrown its support behind Mike Henry and Daryl Vaz, who are seeking to become Chairman and General Secretary.G2K is also supporting West St. Mary Member of Parliament and Junior Minister Robert Bobby Montague in his bid to become Deputy Chairman and has endorsed the candidacies of Senators Warren Newby and Ian Murray for two of the four Deputy General Secretary posts and Gregory Mair for Deputy Treasurer.And with the nomination exercise now over, the JLP will turn its attention to finalising arrangements for this weekend's elections.Mr. Samuda says he expects voting to proceed smoothly."And that we have a good and peaceful election on the weekend, Sunday, December 5. We are a party of great experience and you can be assured that everything will be handled very smoothly," Mr. Samuda said.
