Former People's National Party candidate for West Central St Andrew Patrick Roberts is to be tried in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on January 26.Roberts is facing charges of failing to renew his firearm licence and causing the loss of his firearm through negligence.The trial date was set on Thursday when Roberts appeared before Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey.The charges against Roberts stem from the seizure of two firearms from a man who police say engaged them in a shootout on Waltham Park Road in Kingston in January.Ballistic checks revealed that one of the weapons, a Taurus revolver, was registered to Roberts, who told investigators that he was not aware that the weapon was missing.A file was prepared and handed over to the office of the director of public prosecutions who ruled that Roberts should be charged.Roberts' $3-million bail was extended.
