Children's Advocate, Mary Clarke, has moved to defend the recommendations in the Special Report on Children and Child Abuse. In the report, the Office of the Children's Advocate, in partnership with social workers and several non-governmental organisations, has outlined the various types of abuse experienced by children. The groups are concerned that while the numbers are in the minority, children zero to 18 years old are affected by abuse. They say they are also led to commit acts of violence largely because of their adverse childhood experiences. The report ends with nine recommendations committing the Government to improving the quality of the response systems that should provide the care to which children are entitled. And on Friday, Mrs. Clarke rejected criticisms that the recommendations are a waste of time."There has been some response to the recommendations as I understand that the physical infrastructure for the Metcalfe Street Centre will be ready by the end of the year and procurement of equipment is ongoing and the Evidence Amendment Bill will not only impact children but all vulnerable witnesses, so there has been some response to the recommendations (but) not all of them, so we have to keep it in the public domain and that is how we operate and will continue to operate," said Mrs. Clarke.Mary Clarke, Children's Advocate.http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...60104814032748
