Charges have been laid against the policeman and civilian, who were arrested last week as part of a crackdown on an international narcotics trafficking network. A statement from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) identified the cop as 52-year-old Sergeant Vincent Saddler who was attached to the Trelawny Division.His co-accused is 37-year-old Donovan Clarke an ex-employee of the Sangster International Airport.The two were charged this week with offences connected to shipments of narcotics from Jamaica to Canada via the Sangster International Airport and the Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport.On Tuesday Mr. Clarke, who is from Paradise in Montego Bay, St. James, was formally charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and conspiracy to export ganja to Canada.He was taken before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court the following day where he was remanded until January 4.On Wednesday Mr. Saddler was also charged with conspiracy to export ganja to Canada. The cop was remanded when he appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court Thursday.He is also scheduled to return to court on January 4.Last Wednesday, Sergeant Saddler and Mr. Clarke along with nine other co-conspirators in Canada were arrested in a coordinated international operation conducted in Jamaica and Canada.The operation involved investigators from the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Toronto Airport Drug Enforcement Unit, Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police Service and Canada Border Services Agency.The operation resulted from an 11 month investigation.
