The policeman, who fatally shot one of his colleagues during what is said to have been friendly fire in St. Andrew Monday, has been taken off front line duty. A statement from the Constabulary Communication Network says the cop's hands have also been swabbed and his firearm seized for ballistic testing.A source in the Jamaica Constabulary Force told our news centre on Monday night investigators have started collecting statements from police personnel and civilians who were at the scene at the time of the shooting.Constable Floyd Barrett, who was attached to the Motorised Police Patrol Division, was killed shortly after one o'clock Monday afternoon.The Constable, who was wearing his uniform, was responding to reports about guns and drugs on premises in the Lady Musgrave Road area. It is reported that other policemen responded.It is not clear what transpired at the scene, but shots were fired and the Constable sustained wounds. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
