St. Andrew businessman Roshan Khemlani, who is charged with receiving stolen property in the cash for gold trade, had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Wednesday. Mr. Khemlani was charged three weeks ago following investigations by the Constant Spring Police.It is reported that a woman, who was employed as a helper to a medical doctor, stole jewellery valued at US$60,000 from her employer's dwelling which she then sold to Mr. Khemlani, who is a jewellery dealer, for J$20,000.The cops were called in and investigations led to the arrest of Mr. Khemlani, a licenced gold dealer.He has strongly denied the allegations.His attorney Linton Walters insists that his client did not purchase any stolen jewellery from the woman.He argued that there is no evidence linking Mr. Khemlani to any stolen jewellery.However, noted attorney Bert Samuels, who is representsing the medical doctor is expected to apply to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a fiat to prosecute the case.Mr. Khemlani is scheduled to return to court on March 10.
