Jamaica's Alia Atkinson is the fifth fastest qualifier for Thursday's 50 metre breaststroke final at the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships in Dubai. Atkinson's 30.19 seconds is 0.23 seconds off the leader, China's Jin Zhao, who clocked 29.96 seconds on the opening day of the world short-course swimming championships.It also is an improvement of 0.25 seconds for Atkinson whose 30.44 seconds in the heats, was the tenth fastest time in the world this year.Jamaica's other competitor Victoria Ho will enter the pool on thursdau in the 800 metre timed final.Short-course swimming is done in a 25 metre pool.The tournament ends on December 29.
