The Electoral Office of Jamaica has announced it will be spending $19 million to hold Monday's by-election in North East St Ann. Thirty-nine thousand 715 persons are eligible to cast votes in the constituency, based on the May 30, 2010 voter's list being used. The by-election is being contested by Jamaica Labour Party candidate, Shahine Robinson, and veteran journalist, Devon Evans of the Marcus Garvey People's Political Party. The People's National Party will not be contesting the poll. The seat became vacant after Robinson was booted because of her dual nationality. She has since renounced her United States citizenship.
