Jamaica Sports Minister Olivia Grange has announced that the University of Technology (UTech) has been given lands adjacent to the Trelawny Multi Purpose Stadium to build its western campus. She said in addition to the lands, the university will have full access to the stadium. According to UTech president, Professor Errol Morrison, the university has already surveyed the property and the results will be presented to Grange in January. Professor Morrison says at that time, the sports ministry and UTech will develop a Memorandum of Understanding to determine the facilities to be built on the lands. Last year, UTech approached the government to acquire the Trelawny Multi Purpose stadium and its lands to be converted into its western campus. However, at that time the Government had rejected the proposal.
