Defence attorneys representing Tesha Miller have failed to convince a Magistrate to release the reputed head of the Spanish Town, St. Catherine-based Klansman Gang on bond. Miller, who is now facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm, larceny of a motor car and robbery with aggravation, was remanded when he appeared before the Spanish Town Criminal Court on Tuesday. His case has been transferred to the Gun Court in downtown, Kingston. It is alleged that earlier this month, Miller and two of his cronies stole a motor car from a man in Spanish Town.He reportedly took away the keys to the car while his alleged cronies, who were armed, watched. However, in applying for bail on Tuesday, lead attorney Bert Samuels argued that from the statement of the complainant, Miller was not carrying a gun and therefore he should not have been charged under the Gun Court Act.He added that there is no evidence that Miller stole the car. However, this argument did not convince the magistrate, who cited the fact that Miller committed the latest offence while out on bail.Last week, several persons including relatives of the alleged gang leader were arrested when they took to the streets in Spanish Town to protest against his arrest.
