Caribbean Marketplace, one of the biggest tourism trade shows in the Region, kicks off at the new Montego Bay Convention Centre, in Rose Hall, St James today. Jamaica's Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett says this year's staging of the event promises to be the best in its history. The two-day trade show has attracted almost two thousand delegates and nearly 100 international media representatives. In a statement yesterday, Mr Bartlett said the state-of-the-art Montego Bay Convention Centre provides a much needed push for Jamaica as a serious player in the Meetings and Conventions Market. He said Jamaica is poised to capitalise on a programme started by former United States President Ronald Reagan that offers American companies the option of using meetings and conventions for tax relief. Caribbean Marketplace was last staged in Jamaica in 2006.
