Confirmed : Government to focus on job creation at Cabinet retreat ( RJR )...
The government says it will use this weekend's retreat, to focus on what it needs to do to stimulate job creation. The nation's cabinet will discuss the matter at length, at the retreat scheduled to get underway Saturday. A Jamaica House release said the retreat will focus on stimulating growth and creating jobs, through investment and expansion, for 2011. Prime Minister Bruce Golding had already declared that the consultation on policy direction to create jobs had already started with the private sector and trade unions. Job creation has eluded the Golding Administration since it took office in 2007, mostly because of the global recession. Official reports reckon that over 80 thousand jobs were lost in the last three years, but the last unemployment data, which is for the month of July, shows job creation was starting to pick up again.
