A Clarendon taxi operator is dead, while his passenger has been admitted to hospital in critical condition following a motor vehicle crash earlier Wednesday, along the Sandy Bay main road in the parish. The dead man has been identified as 41-year-old Jeremiah Whithorn, from Palmers Cross.RJR News understands that shortly after 11 o' clock, Mr. Whithorn parked his vehicle along the road and was assisting the male passenger to put some paintings in the trunk of the vehicle.It is alleged that a truck driver who was travelling in a westerly direction lost control of his vehicle, which hit the two men, pinning them to the taxi cab.The impact of the collision caused the car to be pushed over into a ditch, resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle.The driver of the taxi died on the spot, while his passenger was taken to hospital, in critical condition.The driver of the truck has been taken into police custody.
