Cabinet has approved the award of contracts for the purchase of more than $222 million worth of antiretroviral drugs to support the work of the Jamaica Country Coordinating Mechanism for HIV/AIDS Response. Information Minister Daryl Vaz made the announcement at Wednesday's post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.He said Matrix Laboratories will provide $174 million in drugs and Ranbaxy Laboratory $48 million. The funds are from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and will be used to continue treatment of persons living with HIV/AIDS while expanding services for all persons in need of such care.
