The former Mayor of St. Ann's Bay, Ivan Anderson, says he will be meeting with his lawyer to determine what possible redress can be sought in relation to the fraud case brought against him. Anderson was accused of defrauding a relative of $5 million in a real estate deal. The case was dismissed this morning when it was again mentioned in the St. Ann's Bay Resident Magistrate's Court. Anderson's lawyer, Ernest Smith, made a no case submission arguing that his client had power of attorney over the land and that he sold the property based on an agreement with the owner. The attorney further said the money from the sale was turned over to the family of the owner based on the owner's instructions. Smith also argued that the complainant had no right to the parcel of land and as such did not have a right to benefit from its sale. The no case submission was upheld by the court and the case was dismissed. Anderson says his reputation was called into question during the course of the case and he will be seeking to get redress.
