Travis Smikle of Calabar High School established a new national junior record of 63.96 metres in the discus event at Saturday's Youngster Goldsmith Athletics Classics held at Usain Bolt's track. The World Youth bronze medalist erased the pervious record of 63.11m done by his former teammate Chad Wright at the CARIFTA Games in Cayman last year.Smikle also produced a personal best of 17.49 metres to win the class one boys shot put ahead teammate Rajae Dacres with16.55m.David Hall, competing for Kingston College, sent tongues wagging after clearing 2.15 metres to win the class one high jump. Hall, who previously attended Jamaica College and St. Jago, had a previous best of 2.05 metres.World junior championship sprint hurdles semi-finalist Stefan Fennell of KC turned in a brisk 13.66 seconds to win the class one 110m hurdles.
