Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton's attorney David Oscar Markus has moved for two of the charges brought against the singer to be dismissed. Markus said there is no evidence to substantiate the claim that Buju had connection with the gun recovered from the carof James Mack, who has pleaded guilty in the case. He also said the government has not advanced in any way the claim Buju used a communication facility to aid in the crime. During his testimony today Buju Banton says he would not be wasting the court's time if he had engaged himself in a cocaine-related crime in the United States for which he has been accused. "If I was involved I would have pleaded guilty," said Buju who constantly stressed he has never been engaged in the illegal trade. "I would have taken what is coming and go my merry way," he added. "I feel good in myself that I did not go ahead and plead guilty for something I did not do," Buju said at his trial. "I will take the public flogging and humiliation, but I am not going down for something I am innocent of doing".
