United States nationals living in Jamaica have been going into the American embassy in St Andrew to cast their vote in the presidential election.
<span style="font-weight: bold">One national, who requested anonymity,</span> spoke with The Gleaner yesterday hours after voting in the much-publicised electoral showdown between Republican senator John McCain and Democratic senator Barack Obama.
"It's my duty to vote," she said, noting that the procedure took about 45 minutes. "It's a good feeling that I could vote without having to travel," <span style="font-weight: bold">said the US citizen who returned to Jamaica in 2000 after living there for 35 years.</span>
The embassy, located at 142 Old Hope Road in Liguanea, offers a free-of-cost service by which nationals may collect the required documentation and cast their vote.
Required documents
If one chooses to vote using the ballots available at the embassy, the following documents are required

&#10003; Driver's licence
Overseas absentee voters can obtain additional information and fill out the federal ballot request form through the Federal Voting Assistance Programme website at www.fvap.gov.
