There will be no more hot meals for Economy Class passengers on the national carrier Air Jamaica.
The change, which takes effect on May 1, comes as the cash strapped airline continues efforts to reduce its operational costs.
Air Jamaica says it will offer its Economy Class passengers a complimentary packaged snack, instead of the current meal service.
The airline, which built the brand on its popular champagne flights, says the complimentary champagne will also be discontinued.
According to Chief Executive Officer Bruce Nobles, the airline is pursuing additional cost cutting measures.
"This is another attempt to try to be competitive and get out costs in line with our revenues," said Mr. Nobles.
Air Jamaica says tea, coffee, soft drinks and juices will be complimentary but passengers will have to purchase alcoholic beverages.
