Woman's throat slashed, man bludgeoned - Missing Mo Bay couple

More light has been shed on the gruesome murder of a missing St. James couple whose bodies were discovered in a river in Trelawny on Wednesday.
An on the spot post mortem conducted at the scene revealed that businessman and politician Thomas Chambers and his wife Marjoke both suffered at the hands of their killers.
The Government pathologist arrived at the crime scene in Wiltshire close to sun set and quickly began his task while colleagues and family members waited anxiously to know what had killed the popular Montego Bay couple.
According to the pathologist, Mrs. Chambers died after her throat was slashed while Mr. Chambers and been bludgeon by a stone, which was still in the vicinity of the bodies.
However, the cause of his death is still to be determined as night came and brought the forensic exercise to an early end.
The couple left their home in Spot Valley, St. James on Friday, June 12 and had not been seen again until fishermen discovered their bodies in mangroves along the Wiltshire, Trelawny coastline Wednesday afternoon.
While many family and friends had given up hope of finding he couple alive, especially after their vehicle was found a few days ago, they were still shocked by the gruesome discovery.
The postmortem exercise is to continue Thursday morning.
A brave comrade - PNP
In the meantime, the People's National Party (PNP) has expressed shock at the brutal killing of Mr. and Mrs. Chambers.
Mr. Chambers was the party's candidate for the Salt Spring Division in St. James during the 2007 Local Government Elections.
PNP Deputy General Secretary Luther Buchanan described the fomer politician as a committed member of the party.
"I have known (him) to be an upstanding person and I'm still contemplating what could have caused the brutal slaying of comrade Chambers (and his wife). I want to extend my condolences to his family. He was a committed comrade, one who had responded bravely to the call of the people to represent them in the last local government election on the platform for the People's National Party," said Mr. Buchanan.
