The Jamaican currency has made strong gains against its US counterpart which is now being sold below the $88 mark.
During trading on Wednesday the local dollar gained 14 cents in value.
At the close of business the Bank of Jamaica reported an average selling rate of $87.99 for the American currency.
The last time the exchange rate was below the $88 mark was in March last year.
The Jamaican currency has regained nearly two dollars in value to the US since the Government entered into a standby facility with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in February.
Inflows from the facility have led to a significant increase in the supply of US dollars to the market resulting in a major ease in demand pressure.
