A social worker with more enthusiasm then sense called on Terry Shea, at night watchman, at his home.
"I hope, Mr. Shea," she said "that you do not squander your money on liquor and riotous living. I'm trying to interest people of the neighborhood in the new savings bank which has just started. May I ask where you deposit your wages"?
"I'ed just as soon tell you as not" Mr. Shea replied.
"Tis 3 Pounds a week I make. When I've paid the rent, the grocery bill, and the milkman, and bought what is needed for Maggie and my 5 children, I deposit the rest of my money in barrels.
Mostly I use sugar barrels. They are a lot bigger and hold more. But when I can't get them, I made do with plain flour barrels.
