Half A Yellow Sun: The Movie

So I saw this to a sold-out audience last Thursday night. It was well-acted and the scenery and filming were awesome.

But it was lacking in so many nuances that, if you hadn't read the book, you would be left a bit lost.

Would I go back and see it in the movies? Naw. But I would definitely see it on Netflix.

For this movie, they stuck to the story line of the book very closely - though they took some Hollywood liberty with the relationship with the sisters, Kainene and Olana. Ugwu did not get the featured role in the movie as he had in the book and Baby (Chiamaka) had no role at all.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is fine actor indeed but I felt his role in this movie could have been more developed Thandie Newton was convincing in her role.

I am politely respectful of this film but I am not enthusiastic

I read the book and just saw there was a movie, then watching the trailer I realize I never remember the book at all so then I had to go on wikipedia and read the summary, that brought it back to me. That being said I don't think it is showing in any theaters here so I will wait for the video.
