watching the discussion in Cuba that Gates is having with black people...

racism is alive and well in Latin America and this 2011 series by Gates speaks to it,,,he is on spot in the countries speaking to the people who live it ,see it ..both blacks n nonblacks aka whites ...aka since all dem white people no full white

dont know since it is in the current line up...go to their site and see..they advertise that u can buy the cds PLUS the accompanying books....

the next episode on the being black in Latin America is going to deal with Brazil...

but i really wish some of those who say on this site that Cuba has no racism , that they watch this series and hear from Cubans themselves the reality that they face,,,

Black in Latin America, a new four-part series about the influence of African descent on Latin America, is the latest production from renowned Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. The series examines how Africa and Europe came together to create the rich cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Latin America is often associated with music, monuments and sun, but each of the six countries featured in Black in Latin America including, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico and Peru, has a secret history. On his journey, Professor Gates discovers, behind a shared legacy of colonialism and slavery, vivid stories and people marked by African roots. Latin America and the Caribbean have the largest concentration of people with African ancestry outside Africa -- up to 70 percent of the population in some countries. The region imported more than ten times as many slaves as the United States, and kept them in bondage far longer. On this series of journeys, Professor Gates celebrates the massive influence of millions of people of African descent on the history and culture of Latin America and the Caribbean, and considers why and how their contribution is often forgotten or ignored.

u so lucky..i miss not being able to stream online ...dem block it up here in Canada...however mi a go see if mi trainer can get it fi me...i am watching newly released movies via Torrent...i mean movies that r in the theatre...an 1st rate quality..not di bootleg, people blocking di view of whoeva taping in the theatre...

that is how i am getting mi movie craving fixed...i really miss going to the movies every Friday wen new ones come out...up here u no get the variety
