Talk about ground breaking ...
Star Wars was – <span style="font-weight: bold">IS</span> – poetry. And ode to humanity. It's beyond classic. It's got everything: sex, violence, politics. Good vs evil … <span style="font-style: italic">It's Oedipal!</span>
Not every one of the 6 installments was perfect but pretty darn close.
You can't get much better sci fi than Revenge of The Sith. CLASSIC!
Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars 2: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars 1: The Phantom Menance (the young little boy Anakin was a HORRID actor so this really really brought the film down)
Star Wars 4: New Hope (simply groundbreaking CG at the time, totally eye popping, no one had ever seen anything like it)
Star Wars 5: The Empire Strikes back
Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi

Your immediate reaction was just so funny... 
I have never heard another woman wax so poetic about Star Wars... while I have nothing against the series, I really don't get the big hoopla either.
My husband and son on the other hand: They'll have Star Wars marathon. If a certain one of the movies is being aired, they'll settle in and have a watch, even though it's advert every five minutes, and even though they've probably got the damn thing on dvd...
Same with EVERY guy I know. It's like Star Wars is the holy grail of movies or supm...

I haven't watched not one of the Star Wars movies.
Lord of the Ring...
I think the only epic story that I truly enjoy (and only for reading) is the Iliad. Epic stories made into long drawn out 3+ hour Hollywood movies... mi can't deal with it and will watch only in pieces,

I dont get Starwars....Alec Guiness was equally contemtious....(who played Obi Wan Kanobi) yet I am into star trek.....
Here is a qualification.. can u watch the film in black and white and it holds ur itnerest ??

I did not expect to see Star Wars at the top of the list, but I did expect the reaction.
I went to the movies with some co-workers (male programmers) many year ago to see the one with Ja Ja Binks (sp?) and fell asleep. You would have thought I committed hara kiri!
It not so much that I don't think I'd like it, but I missed the wave. It's too far gone now plus I don't think I could sit through the first one.

that trilogy! I did not expect to like it, but they truly had me from "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" forward. I was all in so much so that I was at the theater at 12:01 a.m. for the first showing of The Two Towers. I have never done that before for a movie.

I am definitely not feeling those.
A few other popular ones I don't get are Pulp Fiction, Austin Powers anything, Titanic, American Pie, Passion of the Christ, The Book of Eli, The DaVinci Code, Avatar, and Jurassic Park. They were not necessarily horrible but I don't get the hype.
Matrix would be on my list had I not like the first one so much.Comment

I'm so far behind on the comics movies that I'm always upside down.
I was pleasantly surprised and outright impressed with the second Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton. I refused to watch the first because the Hulk looked like a claymation.
I liked the Spidermans and am disgusted that they did not continue the story line but went back to high school instead
I did not get the X-Men until First Class and then went back and watched the others again.
I would watch The Avengers if it comes on On Demand, but I always feel like I'm missing something because I have not read the comics first.Comment
