Superb acting by many graduates of the The Actor's Studio. It is their teacher Lee Stasberg who plays Hyman Roth.
What scenes do you find most effective from an artistic POV?
The juxtaposition of the christening scene with the series of mob hits is very effective. They use the same device in Godfather III. I believe it was a wedding and a series of mob hits but I would have to see it again. (Or was it the ceremony to install the new people.....who was a Mafia guy.
The scenes in Cuba that were actually shot in the Dominican Republic were well done.
There was so much that was subtle like when Michael hugs Freddie and then looks at his senior hit man for a split second....you know Freddie is a gonner. Same thing happened in the scene with Superman. As soon as Freddie slips and lets out he knows Old man Roth and Johnnie Ola, it's one look to the hitman and that's it.
Another scene that works well is during the Good Friday procession when Don Fanucci is being stalked from rooftops by Vito Corleone.
