I have never been a fan of yankee intrepetation of history.. much less black America listory.. (A list of names repeated ad nasueum every year in febuary)... But currently I am reading a history of the US break away from the old motehr country... not quite done from an African American perspective, but with definately a overview... Rough Crossing by Simon Schama It is definately worth a read.... And more than just a read infact one should have read this before any of the standard self righteus stuff... While that Bajan is lordified by the yankees, this book demonstrates that Black people in the Untied States were less fooled then then they are now by the myths.. Prefering the less liberty offered by the British Crown than the liberal trusims parading as morality of Yankees.. Much as the left canonise themselves behind Chavez and Fidel today....
Forget Atticus... There are more bonifide heros who fought for the british crown... As always British pragmatism led to betryal and a life in Kanada! They chose a lesser of two evils
It amuses me that the moist revolutionary praised by Marx Patrick Henry was a slave owner who's slave took his words at face value and joined the British and fought the yankee!
