I am inot science fiction especially alternative history.. what could have happened if some out come was different.. The schrodiners cat of poltics so to speak.. I recall twenty odd years ago a book called Marching Trhough Georgia came out... I nevber read it... However I read a reccomendation on Amazon about a Book by S M Sterling called the Drakcon.. it looked interesting so I went to first book of the series..
The premis of the book was that the English took loyalist from the US at the end of the US war of agression against his majesty to South Africa.. Not only did they take the white loyalist but their slaves as well... (Now this is an absurdity as the British for the most part did free the run aways from Washington, Patrick Henry ect) These settelrs then conquered the rest of Africa and arabia by the start of the 20tht centuary... These white colonisers were suplimented by settlers from Haiti and the yanki civil war Souhterners....
Basically they developed a super apartheid society... The Domination broke from the british empire round the same time as Austrlaia and expanded into central asia during WWI... Theri society was divvided into citzens and serfs.. iniatually serfs were bl;ack but this changed once they expanded into asia... With the citzens having power of the life and death over the serfs.. Serfs are seen as cattle or the roman definition of machines that think..
Marching Through Georgia is based in the early forties with the soviets defeated by Hitler and the britsh alone they turn to their former colony and the domination precipitate a border war with Nazi Germany... Over a series of three books thsi is explored with technological developments..
Where it gets interesting is in the seacond book 2under the yoke" Where the Draka absorb Europe...And the implications of apartheid in Europe...
What is interesting and unusual is that rather than a future postulating a liberal agenda SM Sterling gives a future with apatheid expanding beyond Sotuh Africa...
I struggled with the third book in the series.. I found reading a biography of Stalin as easier to read as the cruetly was beyond Stalin or Hilter...
I have the fouthr that is an altenratuve history to this alternative history....
Tehre are a number of impossible things that would have happened.. the link below discusses some of them.....
