i also love r. kelly's music;

so you see at the end of the day it comes down to the music; and i simply don't like wayne's music.
i'm partial to versatile artists who can kick different subject matters but that doesn't mean i don't enjoy certain slack/violent/misogynistic/depraved songs like a lot of people;

it's not so much a knock on lil wayne as it is the entire hip-hop industry right now...
i can't think of any rapper that i'm feeling like i used to.
the next guys who everyone is crazy about are young jeezy and t.i.

i'm actually pleasantly surprised at that song, because one of the criticisms an old fogey like me has about a lot of new music and especially rap is the lack of introspection. i think a great use of music is to explore the inner territory of the rapper and reach someone that way.

looking a little deeper into that l'il wayne song, that line &quot;i'm a prisoner to xanax&quot; (or however it go) tells me that this song is not a glorification of drug use but a bit of a cautionary tale about it, and therefore, hidden in the song is actually a moral message.

i like lil wayne's pop stuff - love &quot;dufflebag boy&quot; which my older daughter introduced me to, and &quot;lollipop&quot;, love them for the musical arrangements more than anything, but still respect lil wayne as the lyricist caw him rap do some justice to the arrangements. (unlike, say, pretty ricky who to me disrespect a lot of great musical arrangements with their gratuitously explicit sexual lyrics).
