but did get the bit about malaria.......and drinking quinine...

DON'T take his tip on that!!

Most people who could not be bothered with malaria prophelactics did not live to tell the tale.....
(another dumb dutch woman just died from it last month in Gambia).....

would love to see one from him AFTER his trip there.....

OMG!!

was visiting a girlfriend this week who has been married for ever to a Gambian.....

he is there.

WITH a place to stay on the beach....

so, let me know when you go, I can put you in touch with him.

He will take care of you. (anything you need).

First time I was there (1990), met him 2nd day in the street in Banjul - typical!! - and he sent someone to collect me out of my hotel and on the bus to his house to stay.....

which reminds me, a dear friend is there at the moment, has set up an amazing &quot;wash and grow&quot; community project there.

collects 2nd hand clothes in england, gets them all for free cos she is such a charmer

gets a container, fills it up, for the women in manjai kunda - beautiful village!! - to have an economic opportunity to sell clothes, after sewing and washing them, whatever is needed......

another great story she told me about this guy in the village who has a shed - or rented it - and goes off to get a dvd, has the equipment for playing it, and charges 1 or 2 dalasi for people to go &gt;to the cinema&lt;!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows, maybe he has the natural protection like most of the Gambians.

Yea, well, they are only protected &quot;naturally&quot; if they reach beyond their 5th birthday.....

but lots of peeps there get it, and see it like we do the flu.


weird thing is, once they come and live in europe, they lose the protection and have to take the prophelactics like we do.
