Sorry to always be living in the past... I'm an 'old hits' kind of guy...usually. But even now on the N. American Top 40 there ARE some decent tunes. What's happening in Jamaica that is worthy of discussion/of listening to? It all can't be that slack and just plain stupid Dancehall trash that went south when Jamaica lost most of its clout and its exclusive grip on leading the scene and, sadly, instead started to follow the North American model with only minor influence...instead of OWNING it like Yard USED to.
Who's hot? Who's the current conscious voice of reason? Who's still hangin' in there making meaningful contributions? Who has faded from a position of glory? What's the next possible new direction or style that the music might head in Jamaica? Or are people there still trying to figure out who will be the next Bob Marley? ['cause that ain't never gonna happen...just like there'll never be another Beatles]
Has the music scene in Jamaica stagnated like it has in North America? In other words does the BEST new material never get any airplay as the industry sits stalled in neutral going nowhere that the MASSES actually want to visit or sample? Programming for 'posers' is just SO wrong. Yet that's how 'they' do it...those 'men in the shadows'. [ie bean counters] We're not all living at the bar...panting to get back onto the dance floor. Change it up yuh hear??? Or...Move yuhself and go-way!!!.
