Feel Like Singing Oldies You've Just Discovered.....

Listening to Longshot Kick the Bucket after Derek posted it reminded me of just how much our music has changed. I think we kind of lost something when our music went international. It's been beneficial but somehow, the new songs don't have the same truly Jamaican flavour like some of the older ones. Lately I've discovered some that I never knew and they are GREAT!

So I think I will sing:

You know what Derek. I feel a business opportunity coming on. A reggae club in Dubai. Yes I found the Arabs LOVE it. The last safari I went on, it was a local guy taking us up and down the dunes and guess what he was playing....yup WHOLE heap a dub. It was great.

Maybe you can help me. There was a song called &quot;Majestic Dub&quot;. It was released on one of those large 45s that were popular for a while. You know it was 45 but the size of an LP. De ridim was HARD!! There was a picture of Selassie on the cover. I have never been able to find it.

I FINAlly FOUND IT!! I have been looking for this and asking about it for years. I 've posted about it on here many times too. This is definitely in my top 6 of all time. This and Dillinger's &quot;Healing stream&quot; which I can't find either.:

What was the original on which the dub was based and who sung it? I have never heard it. Why are there so many songs called Majestic DUB It makes it impossible to find what you're looking for.

You'll hear all portions of all 3 at this link. The Ridim is great but the original lyrics recorded in the 1970s (Not Responsible) were really nasty.

This has been on my mind for a few years! But it would have to be, I think, Reggae Nights (one a week or once a month) rather than a a club.

I have the (old) tunes and some of the best Dancehall!
