Cho!
Why you didnt tell me one day earlier
I just checked my email and Chapters has shipped the book as of this morning.
So True History of Paradise and John Crowès Devil are from the same author (insert broken question mark here)
I will add them to my reading list because it looks like I will need a few more books at the rate I am going
I am 1-third into The Bone Dolls Twin and I am sure I will finish it in a day or two.
I am also reading The Hanging of Angelique . If you havent read it yet, you should check it out MGee. Very revealing bit about the history of slavery in Canada.
Some people don't need to be buying any more books....but I digress
True History of Paradise and The Pirate's Daughter are the same author not the John Crow devil author.
I enjoyed The Pirate's Daughter, I hesistate to say it was not as good as True History becuase it definitely held my interest but TH was a bit more appealing.
to me Pirates Daughter carried over nuff of the same themes from True History, without making those themes any more meaningful or illuminating. had a hard time with the heroine, and the treatment of black folks in the book. ironic, a bit.
nylah, haven't read the hanging of angelique but i know the author, afua cooper, for years now.

Yes that will be interesting to see how reading the second book first will affect what you think of the author. I was very interested to read the second book because I remembered how much I enjoyed the first.
I went to the LIBRARY and borrowed Purple Hibiscus and The Known World and my boss gave me a book on Pirates that I am trying to read, it is actually very interesting but its not a novel so I feel like I am in school.
