Book Genres: What's your fave?

Romance - I can run through a romance novel in a couple hours. Especially luv the ones set back in early 1800s England/France

Thriller/Suspense - Luv to read these on my off weekends. Intense and keep mi hooked

NonFiction history - I like reading about different parts of the world back in the day. Is a pity mi can hardly retain all the info when mi done wid it

Fantasy - the only genre that can take me out of my daily existence. I devoured Lord of the Rings at 11 yrs and that is what got me hooked on the genre.

Non-fiction History - ditto

Romance - sorry cant take romance novels at all

Semi-biographical fiction - I like when elements of ppl's real lives are weaved into a fictional story.

I like books set in other countries especially Africa, China and India.

I like books where the main character is a child or young adult, I just read <span style="font-weight: bold">Purple Hibiscus </span>and it fits that catergory set in Nigeria and the main character is a 14 year old girl.

I like african american romances and other fiction. I am not big on mysteries and suspense.

Oh and I like books on slavery or during slavery times. I just borrowed from the library <span style="font-weight: bold">The Known World</span> and one I recommend is <span style="font-weight: bold">Kindred</span> by Octavia Butler which has a sci-fi element to it for those of you who enjoy that.

If I am to read fiction I like far off settings and stories about ppl's lives in other places. Actually that is the only way i read fiction if it is not a Fantasy book.

I also like books like the one's Andrea Levy writes. Fictional stories about the lives of Jamaicans in disporia really touch me. Gives me a different set of eyes about what it means to transition from one culture to another.

Yes, yes, those are a given and other caribbean writers too althought they fall under my books I like set in other countries.

Books on particle physcis, geology, paneology, Structrual engineering, cosmology, xenobiology,string theory, dark matter, chemical engineering and Maghreb Arabic love poetry...
