well, not yet, lol...but I did some shooting for some stuff and some cutting and people liked it so why not...I can put the pieces together and make some difference.

I'm planning on using MLK weekend and doing a seminar or symposium in Negril which Herc will host.

I should have a website up soon.

ah well, we have avatars, lol...

anyway yes I am going to get into doing a doc on Kool Herc. I've done some shooting and some editing onsome other stuff and worked with Red Grant on a separate project. People really liked what I shot and cut so why not. I always held the thought that an artist could have their life as their true work and that's how I'm laying mine down.

When I first had the idea I couldn't believe how few people on both sides knew the history and the roots.

So what I am planning, is having a symposium in Negril on MLK holiday and film it, Kool Herc will be the bridge of it. Hopefully it will teach some about the roots and some founders can get some respect and tell some story. You know BET brings hip hop full circle now back to Jamaica and this story can mean some things. The influence of Jamaican music and culture is far and deep and seldom seen- punk rock owes reggae and dancehall for example, and who would think it.

Gotta give some props to Gwen Stefani she seems to know this.

Monk, my undergrad journalism capstone project was a hip-hop magazine. I did a lot of research on the origins of hip hop, from JA DJs to NY sampling to today's hip-hop. I'd be very interested in seeing your documentary.

When I first heard Lil Kim's version, my first thought was, 'Is Lil Kim JA'can?' Then, I wondered, 'When did she go dancehall?'

tru tru, everyting started in di motherland inna Africa an the shipped our ancestors to different parts of the world some to jamaica, Costa rica, dominican republic, puerto Ricoand everywhere else. so wat i'm sayin is that people of african decent have influenced music all round di world yuh know. so not only was it hip hop,bachata, reggae, blues,merengue,all that. So i think our ancestors were the start of music.
