White American tourist meets fine innocent Jamaican girl and...

You have probably heard the story too often especially if you live/lived in or near Negril, Montego Bay, Kingston or Ocho Rios.

There is some controversy about a book - Jamaica Girl - that was recently published. The book is part fiction and part factual about an American tourist undergoing some mid-life crisis and going to Jamaica where he meets a nice "innocent" teenage girl. What follows is a story with a moral, ethical, economic and legal twist.

The Gleaner did a review of the book back in March this year.

What is your take on this issue?

have you ever heard of the book by vladimir nakobov "lolita" the *hero*'s name is humbert humbert<-- perv name if i ever heard one

the only thing i think this book would lack compared to lolita is literary worth. people can't write worth a smit deez days and from reading the review mentioning the stereotypical rasta man and the greedy partner all i can say is

Sounds like a book I read in class some years ago, but this was a true account of a British seaman who took up w/a Jamaican slave. Took place in the 1700's or 1800's. Anybody ever read it?

nah it's about a young young girl with an old old man. i read it a long time ago. i think she got pregnant. but the book makes her out to be quite the seductress
