I am having so much fun listening to this interview on National Public Radio Thom Bell on NPR's Fresh Air

He migrated from Jamaica as a young child and studied classical piano from age 8 to age 22. He talks about his classical background influencing this song he wrote for the Stylistics

At a Skatalites rehearsal trumpeter Dizzy Johnny Moore John Arlington Moore OD flustered and seemingly unable to accompany the music remarked that music has seven sounds and only a Jamaican can hear all of them. This is not hearsay, I heard it from his mouth.

I too enjoyed the interview. I first discovered this when I became acquainted with one of Teddy Pendergrass' back-up singers on a social website. She also said that she dated TP. It brought back memories of Thom Bell's arrangements/orchestration and especially the Delfonics who were one of my first favourite male singing groups because of &quot;La La means I Love You&quot; and later on &quot;Don't Throw it all Away&quot;.
So I started doing a little research so that I could engage her in conversation and lo and behold &quot;Thom Bell - born in Jamaica&quot;. As far as I am concerned, Thom Bell <span style="text-decoration: underline">IS</span> TSOP - the Sound of Philadelphia.
