The touch of darkness that age brings added welcome gravity to tunes like Sitting in Limbo.

That same vocal dexterity underpinned the poignant Wild World, a pop tribute to the timeless battle between innocence and experience. The song delivered his audience into a flurry of arm-waving before the song concluded with a big and out-of-place brass flourish.

Ottawa, Cliff said, reminded him of growing up in the countryside of Jamaica, where the air was clean and the water pure. That, of course, was the introduction to Save Our Planet Earth, a big sing-along tune. ?We keep on sending these positive messages out to our political leaders,? he shouted at the end of the song.

Still feeling political, Cliff then launched into the high-energy Vietnam (Afghanistan). He accompanied the tune by marching across the stage and saluting like a soldier who?d stumbled into the best warehouse of military uniforms ever.

Continuing with his activism streak, Cliff blended reggae with social criticism in World Upside Down. He followed that with his old, hopeful hit Many Rivers to Cross, holding the final note to breaking point before zipping up and down the scale as easily as most of us operate a zipper.

By the time we had to get over to the main stage for Weezer, Cliff, seated before a hand drum, was deep into a medley of Bongo Man and Rivers of Babylon.

Needless to say... I enjoyed the evening out, a few juice, some decent curried goat and met up with a heap of people I have not seen for a while!

Great show, but I never realized how much smiling and raising his arms he does!
