The quais of the Old Port were more than jamming on Friday evening with vintage performances by many of the oldies but goodies! (photos to follow) As I was not able to attend Friday, I did speak with friends, vendors and others in attendance and was assured that artists most certainly thrilled those whom did attend. Wide range of artists included Beckett -long time Vincentian calypsonian, and Pluto Shervington was in top form!


Saturday we arrived in time to see LayD Shelz hit the stage with her dancers. I must say that although she is from my town (Ottawa) I had not seen her perform until that time and was pleased with the performance. Shelz has a beautiful and strong voice and certainly was a crowd pleaser - it would have been nice to see her perform a little later in the day though when more attendees could have enjoyed her session.

Visionary at Montreal Reggae Fest 2010

Michael Thompson aka Visionary - -promoters, organizers, keep this artist in mind as besides being a great addition to any lineup, on the whole he is a crowd pleaser, great rapport with the people both on and off stage - in spite of performing to a reduced crowd thanks to the heavy downpour we tolerated throughout Sunday's activities.

Bunny Wailer NOT at Montreal Reggae Fest 2010

After much speculation, Bunny Wailer won't make to the Montreal International Reggae Festival after all. The reggae legend famously bailed on the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 1998; this time, he failed to pick up a visa left for him by reggae festival organizers at the Canadian Embassy in London, and is not returning phone calls, according to a press release sent out by the fest Saturday afternoon. Wailer's previous no-show had been the subject of discussion in some interviews in local publications leading up to this weekend. Veteran reggae band Third World will replace Wailer as Sunday night's headlining act. </div></div>

Unfortunately..... even though the headliners including Third World did arrive to the venue in plenty of time, the heavy and steady all afternoon rain / downpour continued in to the evening and the show finally had to be pulled around 8:45 pm as organizers simply could not keep the rain off the stage, making it very unsafe for the performers.
