Alphonsus The Mighty Arrow Cassell was born in Montserrat in 1954, and is regarded as being the first 'star' of Soca music. He passed away today at the age of 56.

His debut single Dance with Me Woman gave him initial success as did hits Bump and Wine and Long Time. His most famous track which gave him international success was Hot Hot Hot, which made Arrow a worldwide name, putting Calypso, Soca and Caribbean music into the limelight.

I cannot tell you how many parties Mr. PZ and I attended when we lived in Cambridge, MA and we <span style="font-weight: bold">had</span> to play this tune just to get dem boring academic yuppie types from tap talking bout dem issues an just get up an dance!

I always wondered if people knew that the song was created by Arrow and not Buster Poindexter. It used to anger me when praise and credit was heaped on him with no mention of Arrow.

Which black West Indian err person from the Caribbean would associate this song with anyone else but......Arrow?

Never heard of the Dexter guy til when I read it recently; that goes to show.
