This past Saturday was the inaugural festival. I hope they come back next year, it was a multi-cultural roots rock event. I enjoyed myself and am looking forward to next year's event.

The gates opened at 1, I got there around 5. Just in time for the start of the show. I had never been on this side of Bayfront park, and I must say I loved it. Great venue, and I would definately go there for another show.

I usually have the worst luck when it comes to festival vendors. Usually, I will eat before I head out, but I didn't get to it this time. I received a recommendation to try Cliff's restaurant stall at the festival. I arrived hungry and decided to try out Cliff's before the crowd got thicker. I ordered curry goat, it came with rice and peas and steamed veggies.

Thanks to Cliff, this was the absolute best food I have ever had at a festival. I took some photos of Cliff and company, but forgot to take a picture of the food. Take my word for it, they were great. The restaurant is located in Miami...a bit out my range. I will be sure to keep an eye out for them again.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Midnite</span> opened the show.They are a roots reggae band from St Croix, and they were excellent. Expect to hear more from them in the future.

were up next. I enjoyed Uriel Hamilton the most. Di man voice smooth like silk. I hope he gets hooked up with good management, etc and achieves some level of sucess.

This is Uriel.




Cultura Profetica is a 'roots reggae' band from Puerto Rico. There sounds were more jazzy than reggae, and all the songs sounded alike. If it were reggae, they would have performed all songs off the same dub plate.

But they had a HUGE following in attendance. This was the first reggea show in Miami that I have seen such a large hispanic representation. Usually there are one and two here and there, but this time dem did nuff. I half expected them to leave after Cultura performed, but they hung around and danced out the evening.

I didn't take a picture of them performing. The smooth Jazz sound kept me in my seat.

How does she do it? 40 years in the business and she look like she barely 40.
Marcia Griffiths, as usual wowed the crowd. Her stage presence, jokes, and her overall nice vibes make her peformances a special treat.

I didn't know Marcia Griffiths had a talented son. He was part of her back-up duo and then he sang Beres' lines in the songs Marcia and Beres usually sing together.

She didn't say he was her son until they were about to exit the stage. I didn't get a good picture of him, but as a fan of his mom, I am sure I will see him again.

She did look hot yuh see. Plus she had on red sequin shoes. Mek me see if me can find a photo with a better shot of the shoes.
