Happy 70th Birthday Bob Dylan

There are week long celebrations in this area over Dylan's 70th birthday. He was born in Duluth but rarely comes here. I liked the earlier Dylan better than the later stuff but he is a genius songwriter.

Oh, the other Bob . One of my favorite Dylan composition is 'I Shall Be Released' and Nina Simone just rocks that tune She covered a number of Dylan songs actually ... going to try to find them.

Bob also did a few songs with a reggae feel, including &quot;Man Gave Names to All the Animals&quot; which is on the Slow Train Coming album- one of my favourite of his.

Another collection worth having is The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan featuring various artiste. His favorite albums of mine are Saved, Oh Mercy and Slow Train Coming

Slow Train Coming was also one of my favourite albums, and that song in particular. i wonder if he reconverted back to Judaism from Christianity.

One day on here I was running down someone and saying that All Along the Watchtower was a Jimi Hendrix original, and wasnt a Bob Dylan song. But no, i was wrong. This is one of my favourite songs of all time.

i have Bob Dylan's more muted rendition of the song on his greatest hits album, and have grown to love it, too. but Bob apparently consider's Jimi's version the definitive one.

Our Leroy Sibbles of Heptones fame did a good version of I Shall Be Released which is considered classic reggae.
