Heeeennyhow, mi was listening a book on tape by said fellow there name "Chasing Destiny". So as mi a read, rahda, listen, the narrater a use some funny word like 'bombaclut'. well turn out dat one a ppl dem was from Jamaica and har parents in deh too. Couple time well him use some Jcan terms. Him paint di ooman mad like shad- she a striver, and she obsessed wid har husband and very money hungry, image conscious.

Then now the mother of that character was ruthless- a so di protag label har [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

anybody seent or heard this book. wah oonu tink bout Dickey? di sex scene dem!!!! graphic to no end!!!

Mi use to like Eric Jerome Dickey when mi deh a college, but I guess I grow outta it. Matta a fact I get one of his latest books Genevieve a year or two ago an still nuh read it as of yet.

At the time mi used to enjoy his books. The major characters in one book, are supporting characters in others. So by the time you read them all you know everything about everybody.

The one chichi book weh unu a chat bout is a compilation of 4 shourt stories one of them is Dickey. But dat one story wid di battybwai inna it sick mi and mi haffi skip a 1/4 a di book. Mi shoulda get a refund.

I listened to that book as well. Di ooman reading di book was annoying. Har attempt at patois was a joke.

But other than that, the book was a joke. Every character was pathetic, and me was wishing di whole a dem ooda end up dead inna di end. What else, di book was unrealistic; another vehicle to convery false stereotypes about African Americans; predictable; and of course included EJD's lesbian obsession.

It was 'interesting' to listen to the sex scenes being read. Some of them were quite steamy.

You know mi just start reading this book today "Chasing Destiny". After reading two Eric Jerome Dickey books, I swore that I'd never pick up another of his books...the stories too bland and typical. Enjoying this one so far...in truth, mi enjoying the book more because the lead female show her rebellion and a bonafide motorcycle rider. The language in the story is definitely strong but Jerome's characters are in this genre where street language is tough and raw. Mi just reach page ... 24 and reading more tonite.

Yes Peppa, the narrater chick was annoying!!! At one point the Jcan girl wassa cuss the american lead and she say supm like "suck di dout". Literally a suh di narrator chick sound.
