Russia and the Negro

This was written in 86 and it is one of those books that is important to read but pisses me off....The tendeny to make every thing US centric irritates... But it does do something that adds context to the so called Civil rights movement.. acknowledge the role of the left in the early 20th centuary.. Makes me want to read a biography of Padmore.....

It does show the black listory month is myopic and pandering to the middle class and its sensibility....




There is that tendency for the left to claim the smugness, that they dont discriminate...

more interestingly are the blacks from the Cacusses... That is a mystery and uncertainity of their origin.....

JA Rogers mentions the connection with Colchis..

Also mentioned in this book was villages in Yugoslavia / montenegro of blacks....

I would reccommend u this book as a post JA Rodgers continued reading... Also Black in Red by Robert Robinson.. About a Jamaican who lived in Russia for thirty years... In the end it was Dudley Thomson who got him out....
