the play is coming to toronto in march. i plan to see it. the book i found was funny with it's use of the colloqual language of guyana, otherwise it was a bit twisty turny re: the plot. like i had to ask my guyanese frenny what all the bapping was about. intergenerational incest and murder it seems.

After going past the hundredth page and no mention of a reason for a statement, but nuf reminiscing bout playing pikney games, how Belfeels smell, de names of her dead pickney dem (de names for crying out loud!) an how much time she spen pan polishing de hoe, I am so frikkin past my tolerance level... austin clarke is bajan. polished hoe is another book i was surprised won an award (small island being the other). i'm starting to think clarke got the giller for pc reasons, although that's probably an uncharitable thought.
